Sophie Haas-Goldberg
Research Associate Intern
Sophie is currently a Master of Arts in International Relations student at Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies, with a focus on international development, economics, migration, and the Middle East and North Africa. Sophie has professional experience as a Program Officer working at the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance where she managed, monitored, and provided suggestions on complex humanitarian emergencies in Ethiopia, Venezuela, and Ukraine. Additionally, Sophie interned at the International Crisis Group (ICG), a transnational non-profit aiming to prevent and resolve conflict around the world. In her role, she researched the viability of prospective donors and researched impeding conflict areas for donor events and briefings. Prior to ICG, Sophie wrote grants for International Bridges to Justice in Geneva, Switzerland to help individuals gain access to basic legal rights in developing countries. Sophie has a passion for international and economic development as it relates to local capacity building, protection mainstreaming, and fostering resilient communities.
